Egerton University is perhaps one of the oldest institution of higher learning in Kenya having been founded in 1939 as a farm school by Lord Maurice Egerton of Tatton. In 1950, the school was upgraded to an Agricultural college offering diplomas in various agricultural fields.

In 1986, Egerton University was gazetted as a constituent college of the University of Nairobi. In 1987, Egerton University was established by an Act of Parliament, which was repealed and replaced by the Universities Act No. 42 of 2012. The university has a main campus in Njoro and a college campus in Nakuru town.

Entry Requirements For A Bachelor’s Degree Course At Egerton University

For one to be admitted to a bachelor’s course at Egerton University, they must meet the following minimum qualifications as set out by the commission on higher education;

  1. Mean grade C+ at KCSE and a minimum of C(Plain) in English; OR,
  2. Mean Grade C(Plain) at KCSE plus a Diploma in Library & Information Science or its equivalent with credit from an institution recognized by the senate; OR,
  3. KACE or equivalent with at least two principal passes in any two subjects plus a credit pass in English at KCE
