Hazina Sacco was started in 1971 and the main objective of its formation was to promote thrift and savings among its members thereby creating a source of loanable funds.
In the beginning, membership was drawn from the ministry of finance and planning but later on, the Sacco opened its doors to other members. There are currently over 19 000 active members. The Sacco provides a variety of services through the Back Office Services Activity (BOSA) and Front Office Savings Activity (FOSA).

The service allows members to transact using their mobile phones from the comfort of their homes and workplaces. To access the services, a member is supposed to fill out and submit the mobile banking application form. The service allows members to carry out transactions like;

- Transferring of funds
- Paying of bills
- Accessing bank statements
- Checking account balances

- Go to M-PESA menu
- Select lipa na M-PESA
- Enter Hazina Sacco paybill number 850436
- Enter your Sacco account number (YOUR ID NUMBER FOLLOWED BY A SHORTCODE)
- Enter the amount you wish to deposit
- Enter your M-PESA pin
- Confirm the transaction and wait for SMS notification.
