Lainisha Sacco Society

Lainisha Sacco was formerly known as Mwea Rice Farmers Sacco and was registered on 21^st January 1993. It was initially the banking section of Mwea Rice Growers Cooperative Society until the early 90s when the amalgamation separated into two; Mwea Rice Growers Multipurpose with production and marketing as its core business and Mwea Rice Farmers Sacco, presently Lainisha Sacco with savings and credit facilities as the core business. Membership is mainly drawn from rice farmers in the Mwea irrigation scheme. In addition to rebranding, the society also opened its doors to accommodate people from other sectors of the economy like women, youth, salaried people among others. It currently has over 600 members from all areas of economic activities
